Mr. Putthipong  Punnakan, Deputy Industry Minister revealed that he has  assigned Board of Investment (BOI) to organise and set the industrial investments of each category in the same areas or near provinces into one proper areas or  the proximate area. For example, BOI will promote a privilege to the provinces or areas where the rubber plants well to set up a tire factory or the transformation of agriculture products. BOI also grants a special tax privileges to the related investors who invests in these zones.

Zoning management of each industry into the proximate area shall encourage a complete industry and reduce production costs since its raw material and the factory is set in the proximate area. Moreover, this project will support the employment to local people who live near the zone to get a job and to sustain their lives.

BOI board meeting was set on 11th April 2011 by Ministry of Industry and the chairman of the meeting was the Prime Minister, Mr. Apisit Vejjajiva. The Investment Policy and Promotion in the meeting is to promote the investments around Maptaphut industrial areas and the other areas in Rayong and to increase good take care of the environment, for instance; if any project discharges more pollutant over standard rule and no preventive measure, such the project shall not get any privilege from BOI but the entrepreneur can continues his project.

For the new and expanding projects which may impact to the environment but they have a course promoting modern technology and improving their own project to reduce the environmental impact, BOI shall consider giving BOI privilege to each project.

If former projects improving machinery for reducing the environmental impact wishes to invest money to make the machine more efficiency, the project will grant more incentives and benefits by enlarging the exemption of juristic person income tax from 3 years to 8 years.

Furthermore, BOI will approve next 14 investment projects. The total value of investment fund is approximately 32,000 million baht comprising Siam Kubota Corporation Co., Ltd. (agricultural machinery production) 4,000 million baht, Kamphaengpetch Bioenergy Co., Ltd. (generating electricity from bagasse) 2,000 million baht, Food for the world Co., Ltd. (expanding frozen meat delicatessen ‘s production) 2,000 million baht, Thai Bridgestone Co., Ltd. (producing radial tire) 8,000 million baht.
