Thailand and Russia set a trade and economic cooperation meeting in Bangkok on Monday 18 April 2011, since both countries try to double the bilateral trade value by 2015. Nowadays, the bilateral trade value between Thailand and Russia stood at about 127 billion baht in 2010 comprising Thai exports to Russia; such as automobiles, electrical appliances and canned fruits worth 24 billion baht and Russia exports to Thailand; such as, crude oil, iron and steel, and fertilizer worth 103 billion baht.



Trade obstacles hindering the two countries double their bilateral trade value by 2015 shall be raised in the meeting. Minister of Commerce, Ms. Nakasai, will lead the Thai delegates those expect to raise problems related to Thai exports to Russia about fresh, frozen and processed chicken, and marine food and Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Mr.Igor Manylov, will head the Russian delegation to bring problems about exports to Thailand and exploring markets for Russia industrial products in Thailand.

Thai government is encouraging Thai businessmen to invest in Russia increasingly, especially Thai efficiency businesses, including hotel, hospital, restaurant, maintenance, poultry and furniture production sectors.

The number of Russians tourists visiting Thailand in 2010 is ranked the third after Chinese and Japanese. This number of tourists visiting is approximately 600,000 and double increase from the year 2009. As a result,there will be many Russian people apply for a thailand Tourist Visa.
